Rooted in Practice. Shaped by Life.
I’ve Been Where You Are.
That’s Why I’m Here.
Ashleigh McDonnell, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Co-Owner & Nurse Practitioner

I didn’t enter psychiatry from a distance — I lived it.
Before I was a nurse practitioner, I was a mom trying to save her daughter’s life. I watched my child struggle with ADHD, severe depression, and suicidal ideation — and instead of being met with compassion, we were met with confusion, dismissal, and delay. I sat in too many rooms where we weren’t heard. I advocated, researched, fought — because no one else would.
That journey opened my eyes to how broken the system is, especially for women, children, and families navigating complex mental health needs. I realized I wasn’t alone — and I decided I wanted to become the provider I wished we’d had.
Like so many women, my own ADHD went undiagnosed for years. It was passed off as Type A, stress, anxiety, burnout — and I internalized that for far too long. I now strive to meet women where they are, with the kind of validation and support I once needed but couldn’t find.
My passion also runs deep for those who serve. I'm a proud wife of a U.S. Marine Corps veteran — and we’ve seen firsthand how limited and impersonal mental health care can be for veterans. I’ve watched him carry the weight of invisible wounds with strength and silence, often without the care or understanding he deserves. That experience has only deepened my commitment to serving veterans and their families with compassion, respect, and presence.
When you sit across from me, know there is no judgment here. The only difference between you and me is what we went to school for. I carry that lived experience into every session — not as baggage, but as a bridge.
ANM Health LLC was born from all of this — the personal, the clinical, the lived. I created this practice for the misdiagnosed, the passed-over, the dismissed, and the ones still holding it all together in the shadows. You don’t have to do it alone anymore.
From the Other Side of the Desk.
My Clinical Path
My journey in mental health began in 2012, when I worked as a behavioral health technician while completing my nursing degree, working nights on a psychiatric unit and going to school during the day. From the start, I was drawn to psychiatry — to the complexity, the connection, and the opportunity to show up for people when they needed it most- most often, the hardest day of their life.
Since then, I’ve spent over a decade working across multiple levels of care: inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, and integrative settings. I’ve treated patients at every stage of life and every point of the mental health spectrum — and through it all, I’ve remained grounded in one belief: that care should be both evidence-based and human.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for clients of all ages. I also bring a functional lens to treatment when appropriate — exploring root-cause contributors like sleep, hormones, inflammation, or trauma history when symptoms aren’t improving with medication alone.
My experience includes:
-
Over 10 years working in mental health with clinical roles in community mental health including psychiatric urgent care and crisis settings and serving as a nurse for those diagnosed severely mentally ill (SMI) on an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Teams, pediatric inpatient unit, nursing clinical instructor, and involuntary/court ordered treatment units
-
Advanced executive leadership throughout Arizona's larger psychiatric hospital systems
-
Advanced training in psychopharmacology and integrative care
-
Ongoing continuing education in trauma-informed care, ADHD, and women’s mental health
I built ANM Health LLC to be the kind of practice I always wanted to work for — one that values time, listens deeply, and treats people as more than just a diagnosis.
Rooted in the Desert. Grounded in Real Life.
Outside of my practice, I live on a working ranch in Arizona with my husband and our family. Life out here is rugged, honest, and full of heart. It’s taught me how to work hard, stay grounded, and show up fully for the people I care about.
We’re part of the rodeo community — not just as spectators, but as participants. And here’s what I’ve learned: rodeo isn’t about who’s the toughest or who can ride the longest. It’s about showing up, supporting one another, and continuing forward even when it’s hard.
That’s the same mindset I bring into my practice.
Whether I’m in the office or on the rodeo grounds, I believe in presence, purpose, and persistence — and I bring that energy to every client relationship. Psychiatry doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical. At ANM Health, it’s real, relational, and built to ride through the rough stuff together.

You don’t have to share my background or beliefs to feel safe here.
Just because our personal lives might not look the same — whether it’s where we’re from, how we identify, or how we build our families — doesn’t mean I show up any differently for you.
At ANM Health LLC, I believe that every person deserves the same level of care, compassion, and clinical excellence — no matter who we are or how we live our lives. You’ll never be judged here. You’ll be heard, supported, and met with respect.
This is a space where your truth is welcome — and where your care will always be grounded in equity, empathy, and professionalism.
Care That Respects Every Story
You don’t have to live the same life I do to be fully seen and supported here.
We may come from different backgrounds. We may love, parent, worship, or walk through the world differently. But when you sit across from me, none of that changes how I show up for you. Because this work — this care — isn’t about who’s right. It’s about being honest. It’s about being human.
In the ranching world, we talk about the cowboy way — not because it’s tough, but because it’s rooted in something deeper: doing what’s right, showing up when it’s hard, helping your neighbor, and standing by your word. That’s the spirit I carry into this work.
To me, good psychiatry isn’t about hierarchy or credentials. It’s about building trust. It’s about creating space for your truth — however it looks — and honoring it with clinical integrity and deep respect.
At ANM Health LLC, there is no expectation to be anyone but yourself. Whether our lives align or look nothing alike, you will always be met with compassion, curiosity, and care.
This is a space where vulnerability is strength, and where your story is safe.
